If you are unsure which terminal to find your ship at, I recommend either contacting your cruise line directly, or doing a quick online search. Both have Splash Academy, the kids club; Entourage, the teen lounge; and Guppies, a program for infants (6 months to just under 3 years) and their parents. This is the most unique and cool (literally) bar that I have ever seen on a cruise ship! The Skyy Vodka Ice Bar features large sculptures and seating made of ice, and is illuminated in beautiful colors of blue and green. “Inspired by the original ice hotels in Scandinavia, the Skyy Vodka Ice Bar is a unique arctic-like frozen chamber where the bar, seating and glasses are made entirely of ice,” says NCL about this venue. This bar is kept at about 17 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is recommended that guests wear warmer clothes to visit this space. There is a complimentary fitness center onboard, equipped with cardio machines and weights. The ship also hosts fitness classes in this space, including yoga, pilates, and spin.

Norwegian Getaway's bars differ from what you'll find on Breakaway, which mostly has the cruise line's signature bars and lounges. The dinner-theater shows aren't the only entertainment difference; Norwegian Breakaway features "Rock of Ages" in its theater, while Norwegian Getaway offers "Legally Blonde." First and foremost, Norwegian Breakaway and Getaway were built specifically to homeport in different cities. Breakaway is based in Manhattan and is a New York-themed ship through and through, from the Peter Max hull art featuring the Statue of Liberty to a dining room aptly called the Manhattan Room. Getaway, known as "Miami's Ultimate Ship," has a Miami-Cuban bent with a Latin-inspired dining venue called the Flamingo Grill and a version of dance revue "Burn the Floor" riffing on old-school Havana. Hidden at the top of the ship, The Haven features our most luxurious, well-appointed accommodations as well as 24-hour butler service, concierge service and private sundeck. Of the two ships, Getaway offers a bit more regional culinary flair. Flamingo Bar & Grill serves specialties like rice and beans, empanadas and delectable yucca fries with cilantro dipping sauce, for free. On Breakaway, Flamingo Bar & Grill's counterpart is Uptown Grill, which serves comfort foods like fried eggs, pie and burgers.

There are three pools aboard Norwegian Getaway, along with five waterslides and nine jacuzzies. The main pool is situated on Deck 15 and is flanked by four jacuzzies, while another pool sits nearby in the water park. Another pool is located in the exclusive, VIP, Haven guest-only courtyard, near the Haven guest private spa and lounge. The Getaway Theater offers Broadway-style shows, as well as game show-style entertainment. The Garden Cafe is the cruise ship’s buffet, with ocean views and snacks or full meals available just about all day long.
Casual choices include the Garden Café with a fabulous buffet that includes delicious pasta dishes. Scrumptious French cuisine is served at Le Bistro and you can experience a new seating option at Atrium Al Fresco, where you will feel like you are at a Paris café. Other choices include the classy Cagney's Steakhouse and Teppanyaki, serving hibachi-style dinners. Pub-like O'Sheehans Neighborhood Bar & Grill also boasts a two-story screen for sports and Shanghai Noodle Bar is the largest at sea. Before boarding the Getaway, we were able to make dining reservations at some of the main dining rooms and specialty dining onboard.
It's impossible to miss the painting, which features a mermaid and pelicans and employs the colors of the sea. Inside, the overall color palate successfully melds bright purples and turquoises with more muted browns and gleaming silvers. When it comes to the entertainment on our newest ships, you won’t believe your eyes or even your ears.
